Objects, tools and utensils bought from car boots, antique shops, as well as, exploring artefacts and objects displayed in museum collections influence my work. Intrigued by their historical, intimate and sensory qualities I make three-dimensional objects in ceramic, wire and wool as well as two-dimensional drawings on paper and fabric.
In my recent work I have made a series of stitched drawings with a sewing machine and three-dimensional hand sewn forms from an old blanket, both of which reference domestic household objects. The dysfunctional element and the fragility of the made and the mended are of interest to me. This process enables me to work intuitively and develop a personal interpretive approach in my practice.
