Catherine Lewis

My work is autobiographical and provokes thought rather than gives answers. I collect and record natural pattern, colour and form, anthropological artefacts and documentary evidence, images of personal landscapes and environmental experience. These are combined with textiles, using a variety of techniques to produce one-off pieces.
I focus on issues surrounding digital print output and its relationship with traditional printmaking/textile techniques; looking at ways that the experience of making can work with technology: digital media bringing another dimension for expressing my ideas. My research and samples are currently exploring the landscape of my body, and environmental impacts upon it.
