Jane McCann
I take advantage of the attributes of modern technical textiles and new manufacturing methods producing garments in limited edition, short runs’ as well as customised individual pieces, and accessories, that have more of a link to craft than to fashion. My philosophy is to revisit influences from traditional, well loved work wear and textiles historically made from heavy and bulky natural fibres, and to create a new light weight multifunctional wardrobe from modern technical fabrics. The natural colours and textures found in landscape, as well as ethnic patterns and motifs, provide an endless source of inspiration for fibre and fabric selection, colour harmonies and embellishment. The replacement of traditional fabrics with modern technical fibre mixes is readily transferable across global cultures. In-depth primary research into authentic style, fabrication and colour references provides an enduring rich source of inspiration for unique product development.
