A follow-on from the Blanc de Blanc exhibition, the theme for La Rencontre is 'transatlantic pairs' each member of MaP working collaboratively with an agreed member of Diagonale. The geographical distance did not prevent an informative and supportive relationship from developing between each of the couples making up the two groups and three Diagonale members attended in person. A satellite show of MaP members was held concurrently at the Washington Gallery in Penarth.
Curiously, a newspaper reviewer (Metro 27.7.06) found the exhibition "rather tedious and predictable" though he did single out Anne Gibbs' "casually stitched depiction of household tools and implements" and "Sally Grant's tapestries that feature bold black and white designs" as worthy of note, He obviously does not know what a tapestry is - Sally's work was embroidered, not woven.
